Infrastructure District Discussion
Infrastructure District Discussion
Tuesday, June 10, 2025 (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) (CDT)
Description
NAIOP invites you to learn more about a newly passed state law, The Real Estate Infrastructure District Act. Infrastructure districts are a tool for building public infrastructure with bonding and private investment.
NAIOP began exploring the possibility of bringing this tool to the state nearly three years ago. While initially inspired by conversations with the City of Franklin around alternatives to impact fees, it became apparent that this tool had benefits beyond just alleviating impact fees. Nearly every county and city across the state is struggling to fund much needed infrastructure. Exactly two years ago, NAIOP hosted its first information session on infrastructure districts after engaging the expert consulting firm, DPFG. We have since held several educational meetings with local officials, including official hearings, securing local support and ultimately crafted and lobbied for passage of necessary state legislation.
Now, with state enabling legislation passed, we are excited to again host a learning experience to educate the development community on next steps and how future projects can benefit from using infrastructure districts.
